Abstract :
This work deals with the investigation of the imaging performance attainable within the framework of 3-D linear inverse scattering under only forward scattering measurement configurations. The specific goal is to appraise and compare the information content of data collected with different measurement arrangements in planar transmission geometry. The configurations here examined are 1) single view/multistatic and 2) multiview/multistatic; in addition, the role of frequency diversity is also analyzed. The study is supported by analytical arguments founded on the diffraction tomography and backed up by the singular value decomposition of the relevant scattering operator. The resolution limits attainable with these measurement strategies are confirmed by tomographic reconstructions obtained from full-wave synthetic data.
