Abstract :
The electrode array of electrical resistance tomography (ERT) system has a great influence on the system performance. Based on the investigation of electrode height, the relation between the electrode height and the divergence of sensing field inside homogenous medium is discussed. In order to improve the performance of dual-plane ERT system, and decrease the influence between two electrode array-plane, a scheme of ERT system electrode array with guard electrodes is presented. Using ANSYS software simulation, the results indicate that the increase of electrode height will improve the structure of sensing field, the guard electrode will make sensing field much more approach to the parallel current field, and compress the divergence of sensing field under the homogenous medium condition. The research results show that the electrode structural optimization is instrumental in improving the system performance.
