Abstract :
To reflect network performance effectively and detect the abnormal conditions, two evaluation metrics are proposed which are relative performance metric (RPM) and synthetically relative performance metric (SRPM). The metrics eliminate periodic factors and reflect the performance of the current network in comparison with that at the same time of the former period. They are sensitive to the changes of network performance, such as, attacking the system and certain troubles, so the metric could be used to protect us from being hacked. At last, they are validated through the measurement on the LAN. Experiments have proved that they are effective in practical application.
