Abstract
A beamforming filter bank approach has recently been proposed to estimate the direction of arrival (DOA) in short code code-division multiple-access (CDMA) systems, exploiting both the signal formats at time domain and spatial signatures. The error in DOA estimation is caused by the inverse of a correlation matrix that is obtained with finite data support. To mitigate the DOA estimation error, we may increase data support and/or antenna numbers. The variance of the DOA estimation error is analysed and expressed as a function of the data support and antenna numbers in this work. Our theoretical analysis is supported by experimental data by computer simulation.
