Abstract
The cdma2000 1xEV-DO standard which is designed to support an increasing demand for high-speed wireless data service has a distributed rate control scheme on the reverse link. In this paper, we propose an adaptive rate control scheme based on the control of rate limit, which is the maximum possible data rate in the reverse link, and analyze the proposed scheme through a discrete Markov process modeling. It is shown that our proposed scheme outperforms the 1xEV-DO rate control scheme in view of the overload probability and the effective reverse link throughput. Moreover, we show that the reverse link capacity can be increased by using the proposed scheme.
