Abstract
This paper studies distributed scheduling in a wireless network with a time-varying channel. The delay-throughput performance of distributed scheduling is compared to that of centralized scheduling based on proportional fairness. The relative performance of a distributed scheduling scheme depends on whether the channel is memoryless or time-correlated. Distributed scheduling achieves a good delay-throughput performance relative to proportional fair scheduling in a time-correlated channel. Delay-differentiation in general requires joint power control and scheduling.
