Abstract :
The paper proposes a new paging technique to track and wake up a mobile node attached to an access point (AP) in wireless LAN domain after a SIP INVITE message is initiated by a caller. Tracking agent (TA) keeps track of the mobiles´ handoffs in the domain using a modified IAPP. Paging agent (PA) triggers TA to page the mobile when a SIP INVITE is received for one of its users. AP then does on-link paging in the wireless link. PA can be implemented with a simple extension to SIP. On-link paging can be implemented using TIM or DTIMs of 802.11.
