Abstract
A new method for the reconstruction of one dimensional profile of a perfectly conducting rough surface through a single plane wave illumination at a fixed frequency is addressed. By a special representation of the total electric field the measured data is analytically continued to the unknown boundary, which leads us to obtain a nonlinear equation containing the surface function as unknown. The nonlinear equation is solved via the Newton iterative method and a regularization in the least square sense is also applied. The numerical simulations show that the method yields very satisfactory reconstructions.
