Abstract :
Different algorithms have been investigated to perform the one dimensional inverse scattering problem in the time domain. Successive modifications of these algorithms have been given using the non-linear Ricatti differential equation in a linearized form. This linearization is achieved by renormalizing the reflection coefficient in such a way as to enable the direct reconstruction of the permittivity profile with the aid of the Fourier transform. It is observed that reconstruction is fairly accurate for small depths, while the solution diverges from the ideal case for large depths. Moreover, the linearization process needs to be addressed for accurate reconstruction. A previously implemented network technique is combined with an optimized renormalization technique to overcome the above problems. Different profiles of a finite planar dielectric slab are used to test the performance of the proposed algorithm. Results show that the proposed algorithm has more accurate performance than many existing methods.
