Abstract :
The impact of realistic metal interference structures which can significantly modify the characteristics of on-chip antennas such as a power grid and data lines have been investigated primarily using EM simulations. The power grid reduces the antenna pair power gain, however, the gain reduction is tolerable. In the presence of a power grid, metal structures near an on-chip antenna have greatly reduced impact on antenna characteristics.
