Abstract
Analytical and numerical studies of unusual aperture-field distributions for high-gain phased arrays have generated some interesting new results, while leading to a deeper insight, and understanding of the underlying radiation process. The planar aperture distributions analyzed are synthesized as weighted linear combinations of TE and TM cylindrical wave-modes with equal azimuth order. Analytical integration of the truncated and filtered aperture-field distributions is being performed, using a slow 2D cosine discrete Fourier transform (DFT), and a mesh of sufficient high resolution to follow the fine details of the aperture fields. Also the total stored EM energy and the Q-factor are being computed
