Abstract
We present antenna arrays with complex array geometries. We call these configurations "Z arrays", because their geometry resembles a "Z", and we show another related arrangement called the "V array". The results for the proposed array configurations present a two-fold advantage over the conventional configuration. First, they allow decoupling between array elements due to the change in their relative position. This is translated into the maintenance of the original radiation pattern for the antenna array elements. Second, as the antennas are not located side by side any more, an array effect in the xz plane is created, reducing the half-power beam width in this plane, but still keeping the original polarization. We have simulated several array configurations to confirm these features.
