Abstract
The performance of a commonly used 2.4 GHz (terraced and hook shaped) patch antenna is analyzed for three different assembly levels of WLAN card. Each level of the assembly with added parts exhibits significant changes in the resonant frequency and the radiation pattern. Our results suggest the importance of device-specific design and optimization of the antenna in wireless equipments. Furthermore, the demonstrated validity of the full wave simulation enables a software-based iteration in design optimization.
