Abstract
Defining the direction of arrival (DOA) is an important problem in radar surveillance, mobile communications, etc. There are many algorithms to address this. Among them, some of the best known are MUSIC, ESPRIT, MLE. The signal model in those algorithms is based on assuming that the array element signals are similar in both amplitude and phase pattern. The paper presents a new approach to find the DOA by using an antenna system without a phase center and MUSIC algorithm. The antenna system consists of two antenna elements. The phase pattern of the array elements is taken into account. The power spectrum improvement is verified by simulation and the number of detected sources is not limited by the number of antenna elements.
