Abstract :
In this paper, the performance of switched Ethernet networks with different topologies as an industrial control network is analyzed. The switched Ethernet eliminates data collision on the network and can be used to transmit real-time data. While the data size on the control networks is small compared to that of the computer networks, the control data on the industrial control networks requires to be delivered real-time. In this paper, we analyze and compare the network performance of the switched Ethernet networks with linear and tree topologies whether they can satisfy the real-time data delivery requirement.
