  • Abstract
Design patterns are the extremely convenient mechanism in object-oriented design. They are the similar building blocks from which more complex designs can be built. Such blocks also provide with a base for building more flexible and reusable software. With the help of design patterns the architecture of a system can be expressed at a higher level of abstraction, which allows the designer to concentrate on the specifics of the system rather than having to deal with low-level issues. This paper mainly concerns design patterns and their ability to give solutions to typical design problems in discrete-event simulation.
