Abstract :
Henry Benitez is a Senior Member of the IEEE and an iNARTE certified EMC Engineer with 30 plus years EMC experience. He holds a BSEE degree from the University of Portland, in Portland, Oregon and an ASEE degree from South Plains College in Levelland, Texas. He serves as a member of the University of Portland Electrical Engineering Faculty/Industry Advisory Board. He is President of ElectroMagnetic Investigations, an electromagnetic compatibility test laboratory in Hillsboro, Oregon. Previous employment includes Tektronix (Senior EMC Engineer), Intel (EMC Laboratory Manager), and Hewlett Packard (Senior Regulatory Engineer). Industry experience includes membership in international (IEC) EMC standards making committees, regulatory committees (ITI) and as a representative on USA/ANSI liaison committees with the European Union. He has presented or published 30+ articles in technical magazines, colloquiums, workshops and conferences with presentations on EMC and product regulations topics at conferences in the United States, Europe and Asia. His IEEE activities include 12 years serving as a member of the IEEE EMC Society Board of Directors between 1998 through 2011. Mr. Benitez served as the EMC-S Awards Chairman for several years. He helped found the IEEE Product Safety Engineering Society (PSES) in 2004 (transitioned from EMC-S TC-8 to an IEEE Society) and served as the PSES President (2006–2007). He chaired the first PSES International Symposium in 2004. Mr. Benitez formed IEEE EMC Oregon and SW Washington Chapter in 1996 and chaired his local chapter for a number of years; he now serves as Vice-Chair and Society Angel. He chaired the 2006 IEEE International Symposium in Portland. Awards received include the EMC-S Symposium Chair Award 2006, the IEEE Oregon Section Third Millennium Medal 2000, and several EMC-S certificates of appreciation for contributions to the EMC Society. His hobbies include playing rac-quetball, tennis and sometimes golf and ot- er sports. He enjoys travel and family activity.
