Abstract :
A low-cost X-band single-bit reradiating element for a reflection-type phased antenna array (RPAA) is proposed. The single-bit reradiating element operability has been confirmed experimentally. An experimental linear four-element section of a single-bit reradiating element-based RPAA has been designed and manufactured and its parameters have been measured. The measurement and computational results are in good agreement. Multielement circular-aperture RPAA with a large number ( 382 el.) of single-bit reradiating elements has been modeled. It is shown that a sufficiently high beam-pointing accuracy can be achieved at a reasonable cost.
