Abstract
In this paper, new features of softswitch, such as IP based infrastructure and the separation of signalling and media, are taken into account to propose a variety of softswitch network architectures. Furthermore, analysis on both the performance and the applicability of these architectures is presented. In the end, the roadmap for the migration from existing telecommunication networks to NGN is drawn.
