Abstract :
The research of IEEE 802.11b shows that overlapping and/or adjacent BSS can avoid in-band and adjacent band interference effectively if the distance between the center frequencies is at least 25 MHz. In the area of dense commercial hot-spot deployment, the strict spectrum allocation is necessary. In this paper, adaptive channel allocation mechanism in IEEE 802.11b is proposed and realized eventually. The result of experiment shows that in the case of no strict spectrum allocation, the mechanism can alleviate or avoid in-band or adjacent band interference, and some other narrow-band interference. At the same time, it can improve the performance of BSS much.
