Abstract :
The paper is a powerpoint presentation on the application of a decision support system in the improvement of the control room functions of Yorkshire Water Services Ltd. The control room stores records on water assets, monitors water assets, stores customer contacts, provides fast information about operational incidents, uses SAP to combine finance, asset and workflow in one system, and generally manages water production and distribution. The decision support for the control room includes: a video wall to display the location and frequency of customer calls, display the latest weather report, alarm throughput, alarms that have not been handled, and the site operating cost; modelling tools in cases of pipeline or pumping station failure, low-level reservoir, pressure and flow incidents, storm impacts; and data searches during alarms which include contact details, previous history, reportable incidents and operational notes.
