  • Abstract
    We present a novel burst optical amplified GE-PON uplink employing a linear-gain 1.3 μm shared SOA. With its fully controlled burst penalty of less than 0.2 dB, an extended system budget supporting 128 ONU splits and 58 km reach was successfully achieved.
