Abstract :
We introduce a new figure-of-merit (FOM) including the pump-power limit associated with stimulated Brillouin scattering for the Kerr nonlinearity efficiency evaluation of optical fibres. This FOM shows that Bi2O3-based nonlinear fibres have better Kerr nonlinearity efficiency than silica-based ones.
