Abstract :
The trigger supervisor (TS) is an online software system. Its purpose is to set up, test, operate and monitor the level-1 trigger components on one hand and to manage their interplay and the information exchange with the run control and monitoring part of the data acquisition system on the other. Due to the large number of subsystem interfaces, the fact that a malfunctioning can result in significant economic losses and hardware physical damage, the trigger supervisor must be considered a critical system in the context of the CMS experiment. This paper presents the main components of the TS project that helps to cope with the complexity of this software system.
