  • Abstract
A universal SPICE model of the MECO straw detector and its readout system was developed. This model is able to reproduce the signals from the anode wires and the induced charge distribution on the cathode strips. Results from model calculations were compared to test results of a short prototype. Based on the successful reproduction of the experimental results, we used the model to help select parameters to optimize the design of the full scale MECO tracker. This model provides complete signal analysis of the current flows for both anode and cathode readout. In addition, a dual straw model was constructed to calculate the crosstalk and noise between adjacent straws. This paper describes the simulation and test results
