Abstract :
S-band amplification from 1480-1530 nm with a peak gain of 34 dB and 6.5 dB noise figure is demonstrated in depressed-cladding Er:Al/Ge/SiO2 fiber. A fundamental mode cutoff near 1530 nm provides distributed suppression of C-band amplified spontaneous emission
