Control scheme for optimizing the interferometer´s phase bias of the ultrafast symmetric-Mach-Zehnder all-optical switch is proposed and demonstrated with our 16:1 demultiplexing of 168-Gb/s pseudorandom signals. Its output error signal is not unipolar but bipolar
