  • Abstract
    An all-optical switching using Kerr nonlinearity in an optical fiber grating coupler (FGC) has been proposed and experimentally investigated at 1.55 μm. The FGC consists of an optical fiber coupler in whose tapered region a Bragg grating is written. The fundamental operation of the all-optical switching by the FGC was observed using a Ti-sapphire pulse laser at 780 nm, as a high power pump.
