  • Abstract
    Key properties of our new class of heavy metal containing silicate glass based erbium doped fiber EDF for optical amplifier are reported, discussing its very attractive combination of ultra compact fiber length (up to 100 times shorter than conventional EDF with Giles gain g*=210 dB/m) and efficient wideband and flat amplification obtaining up to 50% more bandwidth than conventional silica based EDF
