Abstract :
Arbitrarily-shaped guide filled with 1-D inhomogeneous dielectric is analyzed by using the method of lines in this paper, and characteristic equations of different mode of the guide are obtained. Rectangular guide partially filled with 1-D inhomogeneous dielectric slab is exemplified, its dispersion and cut-off characteristics are numerically calculated and analyzed, and the correctness of the analytic model is demonstrated. The analytic method in this paper has virtues such as easy formulation, less computation, universal application and so on.
