Abstract :
With low cost requirement for wireless LAN application, lots of communication manufacturer build the wireless LAN devices into a notebook. It will be a difficult job to design an antenna on the limited notebook space. Recently, the usual wireless LAN antenna design is an inverted-F planar antenna (PIFA) [Wong, 2003 and Su et al., 2004], which can be easily embedded in communication product as compared with the monopole antenna that is extremely good for the appearance of product. However, the antenna gain of the FIPA is about 2 dBi, will reduced the distance for transmitting and receiving. For solve the problem above, we propose a novel loop antenna design to use a narrower width loop conductor, which can improve the radiation performance at horizontal plane and can be implemented simplified. In addition, choose the proper dimension of the feeding metal strip can obtain a good impedance matching, and can reduce the distance from the conducting plate effectively. Details of the designs with the loop antenna and experimental results are presented and discussed.
