  • Abstract
In CDMA communications, theoretical analysis and system experiments verify that the system capacity and quality can be significantly improved through using smart antennas. However, to get accurate performance prediction which is useful to engineering design, realistic imperfect effects should not be ignored. In this paper, based on the low side-lobe array radiation patterns, which take the effect of mutual coupling between elements into account, we present the interference suppression coefficients of the co-channel access interference (CCI) and the multiple access interference (MAI), and derive the approximate formulas of the output signal to interference plus noise ratio (SINRO) and the bit error rate (BER). These formulas provide a fast and simple way to evaluate the performance of CDMA systems with smart antennas.
