Abstract
A hybrid mode-matching/finite-element (MM/FE) method is described for the rigorous CAD and optimization of ridged waveguide filters and diplexers appropriate for low-temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC) fabrication techniques. The advantage of the proposed method against existing approaches is its high efficiency while maintaining the flexible solution for arbitrary cross-sections. A new ridged waveguide bi-furcation element achieves the convenient divider-type diplexer combination. The accuracy of the presented method is verified by available reference measurements. Its efficiency and flexibility is demonstrated by typical examples.
