Abstract :
This paper details the design and performance of a new hexagon-shaped printed antenna for use in ultra-wide band (UWB) applications. The antenna is grounded coplanar waveguide (GCPW) fed and is fabricated on a 0.8mm thick, low cost FR4 printed circuit board of dielectric constant 4.4 and loss tangent 0.016. It is omni-directional and has a wideband characteristic, with a SWR < 2.5 throughout the UWB frequency range of 3.1-10.6GHz.
