Abstract
Portable document format (PDF) is rapidly gaining acceptance in the global marketplace as the standard file format for electronic document distribution and printing. Here is an algorithm which is designed for a tool for BMP file comparison. These files are the outputs of the PDF printing process or can be obtained from any other source. In PDF printing the PDF file is converted to POST SCRIPT language, which is interpreted by an interpreter to create the final raster image. When the same PDF file is printed using two different builds of PDF to PS converters some differences arise in the two interpretations. These differences cause the errors. The focus of the algorithm explained in the paper is on the perceived affect of the errors on the human eye, which is the main criteria in deciding whether the errors are ignorable, or not
