Abstract
The contribution of the grid-connected fixed-speed induction generator (FSIG) as well as the doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) to the power system oscillation damping is presented in this paper. Adopting the torque-to-current electromechanical analogy, the mechanical analogous model of both FSIG and DFIG is developed to provide a basis for the comparison of the respective damping contributions. Additionally, the significance of the detailed representation of rotor- and stator-side converters as well as the adequate model of the DC-link components of a grid-connected DFIG is discussed and validated against simulation results.
