Abstract :
This paper presents a control system for the VSC-HVDC during island operation. Three-phase balanced faults are applied to investigate the dynamic performance of the system. Simulation results obtained by using PSCAD/EMTDC illustrate that the proposed control strategy can significantly improve the power quality of the system during faults. The current limit of the converters of the VSC-HVDC has a significant influence on the dynamic response of the system.
