Title :
Consolidation and the way ahead
Author_Institution :
Scott Wilson Railways, Birmingham
Abstract :
This lecture will reflect on the changes brought to bear in the area of electrical supplies for railway signalling over the last decade and consider how these changes may be developed for the future. It will consider the status of design and philosophy leading to implementation of these changes and suggest how they now might be able to become more intrinsically linked to the UK´s electrical regulatory framework. In setting out the background to these changes it will consider how there could be more freedom offered to designers of railway infrastructure systems, and signalling supplies in particular, by standards set in terms of RAMS targets. It will be the development of these parameters and consolidation of the technical rules over the next few years that will help drive signalling design techniques forward in their delivery for this century.
