Abstract :
When operated at high symbol rates, non-coherent UWB systems will experience inter-symbol-interference, which will be non-linear by nature and can be modeled using a FIR Volterra system. Despite the non-linearity of the ISI, it can still be equalized using linear weighting. In this paper, modulation and its statistical properties are found to influence the amount of ISI that can be suppressed. An intuitive explanation will be provided for the impact of modulation on the performance of linear weighting for non-linear TR channels. The theory is validated by means of simulation
