Abstract :
Two new receiver selection schemes, space-time sum-of-squares (STSoS) selection diversity and space-time magnitude (STSoM) selection diversity, are proposed for a MIMO system using the Alamouti space-time block code (STBC) at the transmitter in a slow, flat Rayleigh fading channel. They are proved to provide almost the same performance as signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) selection, but with much simpler implementations. The bit error rate (BER) of binary phase-shift-keying (BPSK) in Rayleigh fading using these two selection schemes is studied and compared to that of previous selection schemes. The effects of channel estimation errors on each selection scheme are examined
