  • Abstract
The computer assisted learning process has been widely used in the last period. The infrastructure has improved in many schools, thus, it is feasible to talk about e-learning. This also underlines the necessity of evaluating the tools used. This paper refers to the application "distributed tool for student evaluation in e-learning" (DTSEE) developed for usage in high schools (but not only, the scope can be extended). The main characteristics are usability, easy maintenance, and process automation. We used an adaptive algorithm in the training module that selects the level of difficulty in a progressive manner. In the testing module we used an algorithm that gives different questions for the same test to evaluate students (so two students which are evaluated at the same time can not receive the same questions to solve, but they will have the same degree of difficulty). The database is distributed. We used XML as data support for the inter-module communication
