  • Abstract
Effective communication is very important to all organizations. Chinese Canadian business constitutes a considerable portion of the whole ethnic economy. However, there is a lack of research in the field of communication among Chinese Canadian businesses in Atlantic Canada. The objective of this study is to identify the profile of the Chinese Canadian businesses; analyze the communication process, such as the language speaking, business information sources, and network created through the Chinese Associations. Data was mainly obtained from a questionnaire survey. The evidence indicates that most sampled Chinese firms in Atlantic Canada provide personal service and retail business. The data shows that for Chinese entrepreneurs, friends are the most important source used to get the information. All the sampled entrepreneurs said they mainly use English at work. At home, the results show that more sampled entrepreneurs speak Chinese. Of the sampled entrepreneurs, about half of them are not members of any association. The findings show that many sampled entrepreneurs consider the various Chinese Associations not important
