Abstract :
In this work we present our experimental results on the preparation and magnetic properties of iron and nickel based nanoparticles and nanowires. Fe, Ni and Ni-Fe nanoparticles have been synthesized by polyol method and Ni-Fe nanowire arrays have been synthesized by electrochemical deposition. The morphology and sizes of synthesised nanostructures were studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM), atomic force microscopy (AFM) and dynamic light scattering (DLS). Structural properties of nanoparticles and nanowires were examined by X-ray diffraction. Magnetic characteristics of the nanostructures were determined at room temperatures by using a vibrating sample magnetometer (VSAf), in an external field of 600 kA/m. The obtained Fe, Ni and Fe-Ni nanoparticles present a superparamagnetic behaviour. The nanowire arrays present soft magnetic properties
