Abstract :
In order to achieve the image transmission through a shallow underwater acoustical channel, an efficient error-resilient still image compression algorithm is proposed. Lower signal-to-noise ratio and strongly fast varying multi-path interference introduce higher error bit rate. Base on the error-tolerant SPIHT image compression algorithm and direct spread spectrum technique, the transferred image remains relatively unscathed even the error bit rate is up to 5times10-2
