Abstract
We propose an 1times(2N+1) multimode interference (MMI) optical splitters based on silicon on insulator (SOI) rib waveguide in this paper. This paper introduces the technique of SOI waveguide and the advantages of the SOI waveguide, and then we describe the mathematic formulation based on beam propagation method (BPM). Some guided rules are also briefly derived and discussed. We also give a brief conclusion of our designed 1times(2N+1) MMI optical splitters based on SOI rib waveguide
