Abstract
Spatial processing with adaptive antenna array has shown real promise for substantial capacity enhancement in wireless communications. We propose in this paper a simple method to evaluate the probability of error in DS-CDMA receivers using a beamformer. We used a beamformer with adaptive antenna arrays followed by a RAKE receiver. Adaptive array can reduce the interference only when the directions of arrivals (DOAs) of the interferers are misaligned with the DOAs of the user of interest. The evaluation of bit error rate is counted differently according to the beam pattern and can provide good agreements with simulation results
