Abstract :
In this paper, we propose a new modulation scheme called time-hopping (TH) MN-ary biorthogonal pulse amplitude position modulation(MN BPAPM) for ultra wideband (UWB) system with asynchronous multiple-access interference (MAI). Closed-form expression of symbol error rate (SER) is obtained in an additive white Gaussian noise (AWGN) channel, then the simple expression is provided for the system. The performance of TH MN BPAPM and TH MN-ary orthogonal PPM (MN OPPM) schemes are compared in terms of the SER in the end. It is shown that the TH MN BPAPM outperforms the TH MN OPPM system for the same values of data transmitting rate and number of users respectively. Meanwhile, when MN is a constant, the smaller M leads to a better performance
