Abstract :
In this paper we present a segmentation method based on genetic active contours (genetic snakes) that are active contour models, also known as snakes, with an energy minimization procedure based on genetic algorithms (GA). Genetic snakes have been proposed to overcome some limits of the classical snakes, as initialization and existence of multiple minima, and have been successfully applied to images from different domains. The formulations of Genetic snakes are extended with considering of the active contour as the cubic B-spline and employing a modified version of the image energy, which considers the Laplacian of Gaussian of the images. And by utilizing new curvature and continuity term in the internal energy of the contour and then applying them to the mammogram images.
