Abstract :
A screening method was developed to aid pig farmers with on farm diagnostics of Actinobacillus pleuropneumoniae (APP) infected pigs. This novel approach compares the growth profile of APP in brain heart infusion and brain heart infusion broth enriched with fildes. The growth profile was monitored optically. Field trials were conducted, and reflected a sensitivity and specificity of 91% and 84.2%, respectively.
