Abstract
Future inter/intra chip ULSI interconnect systems demand extremely high data rates and total compatibility with mainstream silicon system-on-chip and system-in-package technologies. In this paper we are proposing a combination of direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS) and impulse radio based (IR) ultra wideband (UWB) transceiver architecture for intra/inter chip data communication in future ULSI with a target data rate of 1.25 Gbps. Here DSSS is used only for multiple access. The proposed transceiver is based on double threshold level detector at receiver end and thus precise phase synchronization is not required. The transmitted power level is 0.7613mW at 1.8 V for an antenna input impedance of 50Omega. The proposed DSSS-IR UWB transceiver for both single and multi users´ application has been confirmed by simulation and results are presented here.
